Furnace Transformer uses a tuned inverter circuit to generate the pulsating Voltage which in turn generates a medium frequency voltage to the induction coil.
Magnetic field produced by the induction coil induces eddy currents in the charge and heats it due to nonlinear load characteristics of induction furnace, which gives rise to Harmonic frequencies and harmonic currents.
This harmonic current develop non sinusoidal voltage drops in system impedance and distort the voltage applied to transformer giving rise to the Eddy current & Hysteresis losses in conductor as well magnetic components of transformers. This in turns increases the temperature of transformer & thereby reduces the utilisable capacity of transformer.
NEEL being a leader in power quality solution since 1979 has developed a special design expertise in handling non-linear load associated problems.
Special features of NEEL make Furnace Transformers.
Higher cross section & use of multistrend copper conductors to reduce Eddy current losses.
Use of high permeability, Low losse electrical steel used at a lower flux density to reduce harmonic frequency losses.
Provision of electrostatic earth sheild between windings to protect rectifier elements against Line voltage surges.
